Job Description

Manager Engineering (PPS-9) The so-called Manager Engineering is a senior technical position and is accountable for organizing and supervising the planning and designing work, as well as directing the engineering activities of a district-level Punjab Government development project. The job includes receiving the requisite designs, managing the infrastructure of development, overseeing all construction engineering works so that they meet the designs and standards, among other permissible activities, and all of the activities must be perpetrated according to approved designs, technical & quality requirements, and the project schedule of time period. He/She will be responsible for the creation of project plans, technical specifications, and cost estimations, as well as the preparation of tender documents, and for liaising with contractors, consultants, and government departments to ensure an unhindered project execution. Primary responsibilities: To supervise site work progress and quality, perform site inspections, verify quality control, and handle technical problems encountered in the field. The Manager of Engineering shall also be responsible for ensuring the application of safety rules, environmental protection, and, in general, governmental regulations, documenting the projects, and reporting adequately on the progress of the work. As well as strong leadership, project management, and staff management skills are necessary to support the Project Director in leading the engineering teams and, in that way, most efficiently utilize the resources and contribute best in delivering projects on time and within budget.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the post of Manager Engineering (PPS-9) must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or applicable discipline) from a HEC-recognized university along with valid registration from Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). The applicants should have at least 8–10 years of applicable professional experience in engineering design, construction, infrastructure development, or project management with experience in public sector infrastructure or development projects preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of Engineering standards, project scheduling, cost estimating, contract administration,, and quality control is a must. Candidates must have excellent leadership, technical, and problem-solving skills and should be able to lead teams and liaise with contractors, consultants, and government departments. Knowledge of government processes, procurement rules, and safety directives will be viewed as a plus. The applicants should be adept at prioritizing multiple activities and ensuring that the projects are delivered on time, within the budget, and to approved specifications.
